Our Family Business

A Working Heritage

At the tender age of 20, Dave and Janet Kolb started Dave Kolb Grading in 1960 after Dave gained heavy equipment experience working on his family’s farm. His father had passed away while Dave was a young man and, as the oldest son, Dave needed to help provide for his family. He met the challenge by learning how to operate heavy equipment, and translated that experience into the business bearing his name.

Dave ran the crews and managed the projects in the field. Janet kept the books, managed the bank relationships and built the back office team. Dave and Janet spent the next five decades building a successful team of employees, satisfied and repeat customers, and a reputation for trustworthiness and on-time delivery. They focused on doing what it took to do the job right the first time.

Janet Kolb

Their children grew up in the business, working with their parents, learning from a very early age what kind of values and commitment it takes to build a successful company: integrity, excellence, trust, quality and performance.

While Janet Kolb is still deeply involved in the day to day operations of the company, the next generation is at the helm continuing the legacy of their parents. They and their team continue to approach every project with a hands-on attitude, deeply involved in every project, and committed to the success of their clients and organization.

Families Working For You

The Kolb family isn’t the only family in our “family”. Many of our employees have family ties, adding to a culture that values commitment, long term relationships and trust. We work together, supporting and encouraging each other as a team, creating an environment that values success in terms of relationships as well as revenue. The result is a business with an outstanding safety and project completion record with an eye towards the future.

FORWARD THINKING

Our customer's success is our success and always leads to the next project.
