Safety

Our Commitment to Safety

Since our founding in 1960, Kolb Grading has been, and always will be, a family business. Dave and Janet Kolb created an environment built on integrity, excellence, trust, quality and performance. These are lessons that they taught to their children from an early age, and they have carried it through the company for over six decades.

The Kolb Grading Family extends far past the immediate Kolb family—our team truly cares for the safety of each team member and takes every precaution to ensure each of our workers—and yours—get home safely.

Safety is more than a number and a ranking to our team; it is fundamental to the way we run our business, woven into every step of our processes. Safety is a part of who we are, not just what we do. Quality, excellence, trust, and experience; this is the Kolb Grading way of doing business. Let us give you peace of mind knowing your project will not only be done on time, but will also be done properly and safely.

FORWARD THINKING

Quality means doing it right when no one is looking.

Stretching

Safety Alignment

The goal of our stretch and flex program is to provide our team with the time needed to perform job-specific stretches – in order to increase their overall flexibility and range-of-motion. Stretching makes muscles less prone to injury, as well as enables both muscles and tendons to recover more quickly from job fatigue. Our team members stretch, at minimum, at the beginning of their shifts and after their lunch breaks. Preventing injuries on the job starts with taking care of our bodies.

Kolb’s Safety Program

We are continually improving our processes to not only meet but exceed industry standards. Our approach safety depends on:

The Right Training

Our industry is ever-evolving, as such, we provide each of our team members with ongoing safety training and education. Making sure our entire team is up-to-date with current industry standards ensures every project we complete will be done correctly.

Our internal safety team is continually improving our safety standards, and our external auditors review and inspect our work to help us better these best practices. Everything at Kolb starts and ends with the safety of our team.

The Right Equipment

Excavating, blasting and concrete work, among our other specialties, require specific equipment for our employees to protect themselves

Eye Protection

Proper eye protection is worn at all times when doing any work involving flying particles, such as grinding, saw cutting and more.

Head Protection

Hard hats are required at all times except when in break or equipment areas.

Hand Protection

Job-specific gloves are to be worn at all times except for tasks that cannot be performed while wearing gloves.

Fall Protection

Fall protection is required on areas 6’ or higher.

… and more.

Our commitment to safety stems from more than numbers and rankings—it comes from genuine care and concern for our Kolb family.
